Over the years, our staff has grown from a handful of contractors to a dedicated team of full-time employees at our Ivy office, where we all enjoy a beautiful open workspace. We’re very proud to have maintained long and happy relationships with people who have left the company. In fact, our very first employee left and now works with us in a different capacity, and many staff members have left and come back as their personal needs have changed over the years. Part-Time/Full-Time Boutique Staff

The Wine & Country Shop reflects the lifestyle of our vineyard region and carries everything from Dubarry and picnicking items for tailgating at a steeplechase to elegant gift baskets, local art. farm-to-table food, garden décor and more. We’re looking for someone to help grow our charming boutique. The right candidate will be social, present themselves professionally, be enthusiastic about locally-made artisan goods and be able to work independently. Skills in sales, retail display and marketing are preferred. Social media experience a plus. Must be at least 21 years old and have the ability to lift 40 lb boxes.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Answering and following up with client inquiries,
  • Coordinating deliveries of products and publications,
  • Keeping the storefront and office clean, friendly and presentable,
  • Entering, updating and managing inventory in the Shop’s POS system,
  • Tagging/labeling inventory,
  • Ordering, displaying and stocking products,
  • Maintaining knowledge of the company, products and ABC laws,
  • Opening/Closing the shop, 
  • Packaging and mailing products,
  • Other assigned duties.

Full-Time Administrator

Ivy Life & Style Media is looking for an office administrator who can assist all departments of the company. This position is in office due to the high level of interaction with products, mail and clients on behalf of sales team. People skills a must, as it requires a high degree of organization, independence and attention to detail. Strong computer skills, and experience in excel and bookkeeping software are musts. Needs to be able to lift 40 lb boxes.

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Administration of inventory in our retail shop,
  • Database entry and management,
  • Maintaining office supplies, equipment and the building,
  • Managing mailing lists,
  • Tracking commissions,
  • Supporting sales staff,
  • Creating invoices and doing a/r,
  • Other assigned duties.

Part-Time/Full-Time Editorial Assistant

Our new position of Editorial Assistant should have a good eye for detail, be sensitive to visual branding and a great writer. We have a high-energy work environment and promise you’ll never be bored! We have a full portfolio of publications that include: Wine & Country Life, Wine & Country Weddings and CharlottesvilleFamily. The right candidate will have a strong connection to Virginia and our content. This position is in-office full time with 2–3 Saturdays a month. Social media and marketing experience a must. SEO knowledge and experience a plus.

  • Editing and writing for social media,
  • Editing and writing for websites,
  • Editing and writing for the online shop,
  • Editing and writing for print,
  • Proofreading copy for grammar and punctuation,

Part-Time/Full-Time Advertising Sales Consultant

Exceptional people are needed to join our top-notch team as Advertising Consultants. At Ivy Life & Style Media, we’re looking for someone organized and ambitious with strong communication skills, and someone who loves to network and meet new people. Experience in sales and cold calling helpful. Your earnings are based on your sales with generous performance-based bonuses. You’ll work with fun and creative team members, and this position requires a minimum of 30 hrs/week.

  • Prospecting, building new business relationships,
  • Growing existing accounts,
  • Generating revenue,
  • Database entry and management,
  • Assist in facilitating web & print materials for clients, 
  • Assist at photoshoots as needed,

Freelance Writer

Are you a freelance writer with a passion for our community who loves putting your ideas down on paper? Send our editor your pitch. Our goal is magazine writing—we like a lively, anecdotal approach that’s fun to read, easy to understand and informative. In our CharlottesvilleFamily publication, we aim to provide engaging feature stories on parenting, education, dining, art, health and recreation, as well as useful resources designed to help connect readers with local resources. In our Wine & Country Life publication, we aim to provide engaging feature stories on architecture, interior design, gardening, wine, beer making, cider, cuisine, entertaining, home décor, art, music, literature, outdoor pursuits and more.

Our three main criteria are that articles contain useful information, are entertaining, have local relevance and are informative. We pay $90–$175 for articles we commission dependent on length/difficulty, and $35–$50 for reprints given our market is small. We often plan up to a year in advance and typically need to receive articles at least two months in advance of the publication month. Editorial & Marketing Interns

The ideal candidate is a university student or recent graduate in the field of journalism, communications, English, marketing, media or a related field. Interns must possess strong writing and copy-editing skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently. The publishers’ goals are for each intern to get as much experience in the magazine publishing business and media realm as possible, so students will write articles, fact-check content, help with online platforms, partake in strategic marketing campaigns and assist the editors with special projects. In addition, motivated interns will have the opportunity to learn about online and social media, successful marketing practices and explore their particular interest areas. We have a high-energy work environment with an extremely talented award-winning staff that will challenge and work closely with you.
