PR – AlbemarleKids Wins Coveted Children’s Media Award for Second Year In A Row

AlbemarleKids.com Web Site and Complimentary Print Publications Honored as Exemplary Parenting Material

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (October 2003) – AlbemarleKids, a popular publishing company serving families and businesses in Charlottesville-Albemarle, today announced that their collection of AlbemarleKids publications have won the coveted Parent?s Guide to Media Award for Outstanding Achievement for the second year in a row.

?Parents and children alike will be drawn to this engaging, quality mix of solid information and personal experiences developing theme and timely topics. Regional features such as ideas for families to do together could be readily replicated elsewhere. Thoughtfully annotated web watch links and regular features including kid news (sometimes written by kids) highlight its well-chosen resources. Finally, advertising seems harmonious and unobtrusive.?

Started in 1998, AlbemarleKids is dedicated to being “The Ultimate Resource Making Parenting Easier & Growing Up Fun”. Their popular weekly web site recently underwent a complete remodeling and the new site now receives over a quarter of a million hits and provides over 20,000 visitors each month with extensive community resources. In addition to the web site, AlbemarleKids also publishes a weekly e-Newsletter, quarterly print Magazine, and an annual Directory of Family Services. AlbemarleKids also has a “live” presence in our community that you discover when you look through their publications and see drawings and poetry from local kids, families creating art at AlbemarleKids Care Exhibits at festivals, area schoolchildren actively engaged in helping to create Bumble’s Clubhouse and more.

?Today?s parents are busy. AlbemarleKids works to make their lives easier by doing the research for them and putting the local resources they need at their fingertips?, said Robin Johnson Bethke Founder and Co-Publisher. ?We?re helping parents make time for the important stuff like fishing and finger paints,? she adds with a smile.

“By developing AlbemarleKids, we hoped to create a one-stop shop for parents to find great kid?s activities, parent groups, daytrip ideas, extensive guides to local businesses serving families and much more,” explained Jennifer Bryerton, Co-Publisher of AlbemarleKids. “This award is affirmation that we?re creating resources that really impact local families in a very positive way.”
