CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (December 2011) – Happy Birthday, Charlottesville! The year 2012 marks the 250th anniversary of Charlottesvilles founding, and the community is planning a grand celebration, which Ivy Publications is proud to partner with! In 2012, AlbemarleFamily, the Charlottesville Welcome Book, and the Locally Charlottesville Directory Series will all feature special coverage the City of Charlottesville’s anniversary including historical content, event information, contests and giveaways.
There are few cities that can boast such historical significance; Charlottesville has an incredibly rich history that draws millions of visitors every year to Thomas Jeffersons Monticello and his renowned University of Virginia, Ash Lawn-Highland (home of James Monroe) and Montpelier (home of James Madison). And in 2012, Charlottesville will proudly celebrate our heritage with the recognition of the citys founding.
This yearlong celebration will include a history festival, music festival and celebration gala planned along with numerous story-telling projects that will educate, inform and inspire, and will write a new chapter for Charlottesville. Look for a Celebrate 250 logo in our AlbemarleFamily print event calendar throughout the year, which designate these special events that honor the rich tapestry made from the lives of generations that have established the values that we benefit from today.
