Charlottesville Wine & Country Offers Food & Wine Pairing Course
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (October 2018) – Charlottesville Wine & Country is offering a unique new wine experience. Focused on seasonal wines, this four-class course includes an exclusive winery tour and meals with industry experts and sommelier Will Curley in the private Library Room of Brasserie Saison. Classes span from October 28–December 12.
The first class will take participants out to Afton Mountain Vineyards to learn directly from Winemaker Damien Blanchon, who will show both the production of growing grapes as well as the winemaking process. Blanchon will also address his environmentally respectful practices as well as how understanding the terroir of the vineyard is reflected in wine. A native of France, Blanchon has been making wine in Virginia since 2006 through his philosophy that “good wine comes from good grapes.”
For classes two, three and four, participants will join Sommelier Will Curley in the private Library Room of Brasserie Saison, where they will dine and discuss the pairings of reds and sparklings with amazing foods. Curley is the Director of Wine and Hospitality at Ten Course Hospitality and the General Manager and Wine Steward to Brasserie Saison.
The course includes a Charlottesville Wine & Country Food and Wine Tote set with a wine opener, cheese board and cheese knife to use both during the classes and at future wine tastings. For the newcomer to wines, as well as the connoisseur, this course will touch on many aspects of world and local wines with particular attention to reds and sparkling vintages popular during this season. Seating is limited to 16 participants, so reserve early.
