CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (December 2014) – Ivy Publications, Charlottesville, Virginia’s award-winning niche lifestyle magazine publisher, is pleased to announce a newly created internship program open for applications from smart, motivated university students and recent graduates. Ivy Publications editorial interns gain valuable experience in the journalism field. Interns write, edit, fact-check and work on special projects with our editorial staff.

The ideal candidate would be a student or recent graduate in the field of journalism, communications, English or a related field. Editorial interns must possess strong writing skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently. Prior experience at a publication of some kind is strongly recommended.

The publishers’ goals are for each intern to get as much experience in the magazine publishing business as possible, so as an editorial intern, students will:
• Assist editors with special projects, such as our annual CharlottesvilleFamily Favorites awards, Bumble’s Summer Giveaway and our new Weddings blog.
• Write articles that will get published in the magazines and online.
• Fact-check articles for publication.
• Maintain the online calendar.

In addition, motivated interns will have the opportunity to learn about online and social media and to explore their particular interest areas.

Hours: 15-20 hours/week
Duration: varies
Compensation: Unpaid
Deadline for application: Spring: January 30; Summer: April 1; Fall: August 1.

Interns MUST be familiar with our publications when applying for this internship! Please send a resume, cover letter and three published clips (if you don’t have published work, send appropriate samples to demonstrate your writing ability) via email to [email protected]
