CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (July 2011) – Ivy Publications is excited to announce a new directory series: Locally Charlottesville.

Why “Locally?” Because we’re all about locally owned businesses. (We happen to be one, too!) The roots that anchor this community are homegrown, local businesses – from small, start-up specialty boutiques offering an eclectic array of wares to well-established, family-owned businesses passed down through Charlottesville’s generations.

When we ask locals to name their favorite restaurants, cafes or shops, they almost always cite a neighborhood business. (For proof, just look at the results in our sister publications – the AlbemarleFamily Favorites or Charlottesville Welcome Book Awards polls as proof.) These types of businesses are part of what gives Charlottesville its unique flavor and vibe – they’re where locals go! And Locally Charlottesville will help connect these Charlottesville businesses with Charlottesville residents.

Locally Charlottesville, grown from the popular annual Family Organizer & Directory, will consist of three editions, focused on family, the home and women. Locally Charlottesville: Family Edition is the go-to book when needing something local for family. In it you will find health care options, party places, shopping, education resources, kids’ recreational activities and family fun. Locally Charlottesville: Home Edition is great for area families looking to buy or sell their home, tackle home-improvement projects, find elegant furnishings and more. This book will be the Charlottesville homeowner’s resource to help get the job done. Locally Charlottesville: Women’s Edition will feature articles and information specifically for local women, including doctors and spas, wonderful fitness classes and shop-local resources.

Robin Johnson Bethke, co-publisher, says, “The idea of ‘local’ is incredibly strong in Charlottesville. People who live here are proud to support the businesses unique to our area. We’re a local business and we’re doing our best to share the love.”

Jen Bryerton, co-publisher, adds, “We’re really interested in connecting local businesses with area residents. These new books are a great first step in making sure that people who live and work here know the best in local options. Whether we’re talking about local produce from nearby farms, mom-and-pop shops on the Downtown Mall, or distinctively Charlottesville restaurants – ‘local’ is fabulous.”

Each edition of Locally Charlottesville will be in a convenient 8×5 format and updated every six months. These three fantastic directories will be packed with useful information that families will want to keep at their fingertips, including timely calendars, phone numbers for great local businesses, Charlottesville event highlights, emergency services and amazing resources for those who are new to the area.
